SBA has launched certify.sba.gov, a new website to further streamline and improve the application processes for small businesses and entrepreneurs seeking to do business with the federal government.

“SBA is committed to being as nimble and agile as the small businesses we serve. In addition to LINC our Start Up in a Day Initiative andSmall Business Tech Coalition, the launch ofcertify.sba.gov is another way SBA is leveraging the power of technology for Americans.

This new website first focuses on closing market gaps for women entrepreneurs in the federal marketplace by featuring the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Program as we work toward breaking federal contracting goals for a second year in fiscal year 2016,” said SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet.

Google will punish sites that use annoying pop-up ads

These new changes will go into effect next year, beginning on January 10th. From that point on Google will start lowering the rank of sites “where content is not easily accessible.

REASONABLE” BANNER ADS ARE STILL OKAY

For the most part, Google is targeting overlays that gray out the content beneath them to prevent you from reading a website, either for a few seconds or until you find and very carefully tap a little X to dismiss them. These count regardless of whether they load immediately after a page is opened or whether they appear after scrolling a certain distance. On top of that, it sounds like Google will also count ads that create the effect of a pop-up without actually being a pop-up, by taking up most of the page after a site is loaded (you may have seen one of these if you’re reading this article on mobile).

Constant Contact Allows You to Manage User Access

After a great conversation with my Business Partner Account Manager I found out you can set user level accesses to your Constant Contact account.  Using this Solution Provider Program - Logo Onlyfeature you can allow someone to set up your campaigns, yet they won’t have access to Contacts or billing and they can’t send out the email.  You can set two levels of access:

Account Managers:

  • Create, edit, send, schedule, publish, and share campaigns
  • Add, edit, and delete contacts and email lists
  • View billing activity, account settings, and reports

They do not have access to:

  • Purchase campaigns or stock images
  • Update billing information
  • Add users

Campaign Creators:

  • Create and edit campaigns

They do not have access to:

  • Send, schedule, publish or share campaigns
  • Delete or remove campaigns
  • View or add contacts
  • View billing activity, account settings, or reports
You can access this feature by going to the upper right of your screen (after you’re logged in) to the silhouette of a person.  Click on the silhouette then My Account.  On the right side of your screen is a grey block with 2 areas; My Profile and Account Users.

Under Account Users select Manage Users, then Add New User.  The rest should be self explanatory.  Constant Contact has a great support staff too if you prefer calling them.  (855) 854-8609.

I Can’t Help You

I have several facets of my business that keeps me running all day, but the one thing that gets me up and moving each day is I know I will help business owners, Help Bubblesand those thinking about starting their business, through the use of presentations, workshops and one-on-one assistance and training.  Over time I’ve found my help only goes so far.  After that it is up to the individual to make things happen.  I can’t help you if you are not willing to do the work.  I know how to get you and/or your business to where it needs to be, but I can’t do the work for you.

My company has been blessed in that almost every business we’ve worked with has flourished in one way or another.  The best phone call I received was when a client told me to stop marketing their business.  We had brought in so much business they were overflowing and had run out of room in their restaurant.  We nailed it, and we do it over and over again.  We also show others how, but they first have to trust us.

Becoming a millionaire takes lots of time and all of your energy, but it is a great ride.  I remember a sign that read “Entrepreneurship is living a few years like most people won’t, so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t. How do you choose to live your life?

Live life to the fullest!  If sitting on the couch at night watching television is what you want to do, then I can’t help you.  I can’t help you get off the couch and motivated to live your life like most people won’t.  Heck, I can’t even help you get ready to spend the rest of your life like most people can’t because you’d rather watch an NCIS rerun or the newest The Voice show.  Don’t get me wrong, we all need downtime, but if I’ve just described your life, I can’t help you. Pick it up and start living life to the fullest! Go after what you want.

My intention in life is provide enough knowledge and experience to help others Life Preserversucceed, but I cannot convince you to help yourself.  Many people have taken my advice and become very successful. Others have returned home to their couch and remote control.  That’s not living life to its fullest because anyone can go home and sit on their couch with the remote every night. If you want more out of like you have to go get it.  So do you want help in your current or next venture?  Are you ready to be creative, work long hours and fight the good fights to become successful?  Then I can help you.

Constant Contact is a good example of a company that is willing to help you succeed.  All you have to do is suit up and show up.  They have more information on how to make money with their product than any business I’ve worked with, Solution Provider Program - Logo Onlybut you have to seek the information and guidance.  It is all there for the taking but you have to put the remote down for a few hours and get off the couch.  Constant Contact will show you the rest. They know how to help you grow your business.  All you have to do is ask.

My company does a lot of helping others.  Once each month we do a social media presentation for SCORE, and every two months we do a social media presentation for Catholic Charities, the Small Business Administration’s Boots to Business program and during our “Marketing Yourself Through Social Media” workshop we teach transitioning military people how to use social media to market themselves.  We offer many opportunities for business owners who are ready to “turn off the television” and do what most people won’t so they can spend the rest of their life like most people can’t.

It’s all up to you.  We’re here to help you go and grow, but you have to make the effort. My company and I do presentations all over the United States either in Social Media Icon boardperson or a webinar and we’re available to do the same for you.  You are also cordially invited to take part in those events.

Cheers,

Mike.

Whew!! We Made It

I can’t believe the last few days. I made a huge mistake and it took down mikebitter.com.  You only make mistakes like that once in your life.  When I called GoDaddy for help they kindly stated the action I took could not be reversed until my request had been fulfilled.  They explained it like mailing a letter then wanting to change the letter’s content.  Too bad, it’s already been mailed.

The discouragement came when I found out I chose to make the url’s name servers as GoDaddy servers and not retain its current name servers.  This is about where you pick your web guy up off the floor from laughing.  This is a huge and monumental mistake, but we’re back.

After the pain of  waiting was over I quickly changed the name servers back to where they belonged and wallah, we’re back in business.  We apologize for the downtime and hope you keep coming back to www.mikebitter.com.

Cheers,

Mike.
